In Ancient
Greece, with the glory of its
grassy hills, crowded cities,
and beautiful seashores, there was an evil and powerful
king. He had everyone and everything he desired, except a loving
wife. He was always unhappy, even though his laundry was always clean,
and he had all the diamonds he wanted to munch on. His subjects thought he was
a strange king, mostly because no one’s laundry was clean, and diamonds didn’t
taste very delicious. He also had lots of sons, but his favorite was Navigator.
But there was a farmer, his name was Damocles, and he was very simple. Even
though he only had his beautiful daughter, Stormbringer, who was as old as
Navigator, to care and comfort him, and that most of his crops went to the evil
king, he was happy, for he had the most beautiful daughter in the land. Sadly
enough, when Storm was 5, her mother left this earth and Damocles mourned for a
year, then started taking care of Stormbringer.
One day,
Damocles was not feelingv content,
when the eviladj king and his sons arrivedv. Storm
lookedv out the window and saw Navigator. She sighedv
and walkedv out.
[3] Sadly-ly,
Damocles moanedv “I wish I could livev like you,
oh king.” The king grinnedv and thoughtv for a
moment.
Then he villainously-ly
spokev “Would you likev to take my place for a day?”
Damocles thoughtv for a moment, consideringv the options of living like a king.
The king
wasv impatient, however, and murmuredv impatiently-ly
“Your daughter can ridev too, and you would havev servants
and everything you wantedv.”
When
Damocles still didn’t answerv, he annoyedly-ly
yelledv “My sons shall helpv you too!”
Then all
the sons exclaimedv “FATHER!”
Then
Damocles happily-ly yelledv “I WOULD LOVEv
TO, OH KING!”
The vileadj
king smirkedv and whisperedv viciously-ly
“Navigator, helpv… um, what is your daughter’s name?”
Then
Storm rolledv her eyes and repliedv
“Stormbringer.”
The king continuedv “Helpv…Stormbringer
onto your horse.” Then Navigator helpedv Stormbringer up on his
horse. Damocles thoughtv what amazingadj fortune
he had. He did not anticipate that
something evil would happen, even though the king was evil and atev eagles and diamonds. He would, and he did,
havev an eviladj plan.
Damocles
was listeningv to amazingadj music and eatingv
yummyadj food, but then he saw a sword right above his head,
hangingv by only a tiny horse hair.
[3] Cowardly-ly,
he yelledv “Let me out maniacs!”
The sons
ranv to him and screamedv “We aren’t maniacs!”
Then the
servant walkedv to him and calmly-ly whisperedv
“We can explainv, Damocles.”
Damocles
askedv “Where is Storm?”
Storm
ranv in and askedv “I heardv you Father, what happened?”
Damocles
whisperedv, “I do not know.”
The
servant wisely whisperedv “The
king setv a trap to kill you, Damocles. He wantedv to
marryv your daughter, Stormbringer, because she isv
beautifuladj, more beautifuladj than anyone in the
kingdom.”
Damocles
whisperedv “How doesv it work?”
The
servant whisperedv “How doesv it work? It isv
set to kill you. When you sayv ‘I am leaving’ on the throne, it getsv
cut by Navigator’s sword.” Navigator suddenly lookedv guilty when
Storm glared at him.
Navigator
spokev dryly-ly “My father yelledv ‘I
will kill you if you don’t do this’ at me, so I will dov it.”
Damocles
gotv off the throne and saidv “Goodbye, getv
your father and putv him on the throne. Storm, let’s leave. Storm?”
He
lookedv for his daughter when Navigator spokev loudly-ly
“If you wantv Storm back, you will getv my father!”
Damocles gotv the king to returnv home and he gotv
his daughter back. The king decidedv he wouldn’t bev
evil anymore, and Damocles letv Storm marryv Navigator.
Storm hadv a healthyadj babyadj girl,
named Merrie. Now a grandfather, Damocles wasv happy, and he joinedv
his wife in happiness. Damocles learnedv to be happy, even when terribleadj
things happenedv.
